MEAL PREP

Would you enjoy assembling meals for absolutely starving (yet somehow quite plump!) loyal friends? Come prepare either breakfast or dinner while at least 30 eyes lovingly gaze upon you! The breakfast shift starts at 8:30am. The dinner shift starts at 4:30 pm. All food ingredients and dishes are set out for you, along with probiotics, toppings, and other delectable tidbits. You mix the food, place it into individually labeled dog dishes and serve it up. Afterward, gather the VERY CLEAN plates and load the dishwasher. Enjoy the well-established sequence of serving to minimize meal stealing…. or…. justwing it and see why Millie and Coco are the size they are! You’ll come to your senses! After the meal, you will dispense pills from preloaded, labeled pill dispensers to those who need them.

This job is best suited for nimble-footed volunteers. Imagine 15+ hungry dogs gathered around your feet. The kitchen crowds quickly when the dinner bell is about to ring. Plan to stay at least 2 hours initially, but once you get the hang of it, an hour or so should suffice. Then linger for as long as you’d like for some awesome cuddle time.

CUDDLER

The Cuddler job is our most relaxing and non-physical post. If you think you’d enjoy sitting in a recliner and holding a small, sleeping dog, this job’s for you! Listen to calming music while you provide the love and attention each pup craves. Most have long been neglected. Each needs to have their mind and heart reintroduced to “the good life.” If you stay for 2 hours, you can easily hold four to six dogs. There is a never-ending supply of individuals needing cuddle time. Shifts begin at 11am and are flexible until 4:30pm. Choose what day and what time you want to come, and how long you wish to stay. It really couldn’t be easier!

SHUFFLER

If you are looking for action, the Shuffler is a critical and active post. It is our most physical job, requiring you to lift and carry those family who struggle to walk on their own (skeletal issues, blindness, confusion… and those simply entitled!!) You will escort and retrieve individuals, weighing between 9 and 19 pounds, outdoors for potty breaks and sunning. The work is action packed…. Take one dog out, bring another dog in, refill the water bowl that Teddy just stepped in… ut oh, Bertie is barking for a let-out…. divert and bring her outside. Ut oh, Lady Bug is barking cuz she’s ready to come in, divert and get her back to her bed. Ut oh, someone peed on the floor right in Blind Bertie’s path – quick, grab the mop! Oh wow, looks like poop patrol time… you get the gist!

BATHER

Do you have experience bathing small, older dogs? If so, please consider volunteering periodically to help keep our family neat and tidy. You will focus on sanitary cleaning and cleaning around eyes. Most of the family get eye drops, some up to 12 drops a day. As a bather, you will enrich the life of every dog you wash by making them comfortable. We have a deep stainless sink and all products, tools, towels, etc. are provided. Simply arrive and bathe one or two dogs during your shift. Come with a buddy if you’d like to share the experience!

Your gift provide their care!

Help us expand our program and provide care for even more dogs in need. Veterinary treatment and prescription medications are by far our largest expenses, greatly exceeding the cost of food, grooming, and everyday medical supplies. On average, it costs approximately $3,000 per year to care for each dog. Every donation—no matter the amount—helps provide the treatment, comfort, and quality of life these dogs deserve.
Your support can make a life-changing difference.
